Impressive eCommerce Sites Bring A New Excuse To Go Fall Shopping I was talking with my mother the other evening, when I asked what her weekend plans were, and she replied with “back-to-school shopping” with my younger sister. Back-to what? Oh that’s right… I (almost) forgot there was a time in my life when I would use school as an “excuse” to spruce up my wardrobe. Attending private schooling from kindergarten through high school, where a uniform or strict dress code was required, there was not much room for creativity in your own wardrobe. Each fall however, I was determined to add as much personal style to the uniform as possible. Some items they could not control, were shoes, jackets, and handbags, and you best believe that is where my friends and I would stretch the uniform policy to its farthest limit. Although I can no longer use higher education as the excuse, I do have something that I did not turn to when going back-to-school shopping with my mother as an adolescent: the internet. With every designer, brand, and store having an eCommerce site, we now have no reason not to shop. If you still need to justify some new purchases, apply L’Oreal’s tagline to your shopping needs. Case Study: Strategic SEO Improves Organic Rankings And Traffic

TOMS.com, a leading manufacturer of men and women’s shoes and pioneer of the one-to-one movement, was looking for an agency to help optimize their newly designed website and to preserve their organic rankings upon launch. With the ultimate goal of ranking higher for not only brand terms but generic terms as well, TOMS needed an agency who could assist with the transition to the new site, handle high volume traffic issues, and also manage ongoing search engine optimization after launch to grow their stature in the search engines. Challenges: With a new website soon to be launched, we would need to work closely with their programming team to ensure the website was fully optimized prior to launch, to preserve all existing rankings and establish a solid SEO foundation to build from. TOMS also had a special opportunity to be featured in an AT&T commercial spot. This required the launch date of their site to be changed to 2 months earlier. In addition to working with a tighter launch schedule, we would need to prepare the site to handle the high volume of traffic and maximize the SEO benefit that would come from the commercial. TOMS Shoes Promotion to Help Haiti

On Tuesday, January 12th, a 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, the poorest nation in the Western hemisphere, just an hour south of Miami, Florida. The quake nearly destroyed the capital, Port-au-Prince, and people around the world are lining up to do their part to help those is need. In the effort to help the country in need, many companies like UPS and UNICEF are on the move. Another group who has been providing aid to the citizen of Haiti since 2008 is TOMS Shoes. For the next 48 hours, TOMS will donate $5 to relief efforts in Haiti for any pair of shoes purchased from it’s official store. Visit the TOMS store now to do your part. In addition to the monetary donations made to Haiti via shoe purchases over the next 2 days, TOMS also helps helping the nation via donations under it’s “One for One” program, which translates to “giving a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased.” In February, there are over 30,000 pairs of canvas shoes scheduled for a drop in Haiti. TOMS Shoes was founded on a simple premise: For every pair you purchase, TOMS will give a pair of shoes to a child in need. One for One. Using the purchasing power of individuals to benefit the greater good is what TOMS Shoes is all about. TOMS mission is made possible because they minimize their marketing budget by utilizing an enormous volunteer network across the US. In fact, one of the few areas they have a significant marketing spend is in Search Engine Marketing. The Business Challenge Tomsshoes.com had decided to create and launch a new website to promote their business of giving one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased. The new design would need to be search friendly, but also user friendly and clearly stay on track for their marketing initiatives. The timeline for the launch was for mid-summer (August 1st, 2009). Site Launch Pre-Planning Meeting Wpromote personally met with the site’s designers (the design team flew in from Chicago) to go over the goals of the new site and to determine any possible roadblocks or problems. From an SEO perspective there were many issues that needed to be drawn to the attention of the programmers, such as product pages requiring static links to ensure proper indexing of those pages.
