The Role

The Associate Director is responsible for managing select enterprise client accounts and leading Affiliate marketers to reach their clients’ business objectives through affiliate partnerships.  The role requires an analytical and strategic leader that can build strong relationships, effectively negotiate opportunities, and scale the department.

The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $80,000 – $98,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.

This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.

You Will Be

  • Managing a select enterprise client accounts as the main point of contact, providing proactive and consistent client outreach and communication
  • Interfacing with relevant affiliate networks to coordinate aspects of program management and engaging in regular communication with affiliates to foster growth
  • Developing relationships and socializing affiliate strategies across a diverse portfolio of clients, advancing strategies/objectives for select clients
  • Assessing competitive landscape and providing recommendations, opportunities, suggestions, and education to clients and internal teams
  • Managing select affiliate managers by guiding Affiliate Marketing strategy, identifying account opportunities and obstacles, and developing their communication skills
  • Closely overseeing and facilitating the onboarding of new accounts that fall under direct reports
  • Interfacing with direct reports’ clients to collect feedback, articulate value, present strategy, and strengthen the relationship
  • Providing annual performance reviews and customized professional development plans for direct reports
  • Maintaining the ability to train account managers on all Affiliate Marketing fundamentals, including interfacing with relevant affiliate networks to coordinate day-to-day aspects of program management and engage in regular communication with affiliates to foster growth, including publishers
  • Coaching direct reports on foundational skills, including clear communication, expectation setting, rapport building, active listening, and conflict de-escalation.
  • Continuously refining and updating the training process and materials for new hires.
  • Leading Affiliate Marketing-related discussions and partaking in internal or public speaking opportunities
  • Maintaining sufficient knowledge of core digital marketing channels, including influencer marketing, paid media, and earned/owned media.
  • Assisting sales team on audits, decks and pitches for prospective Affiliate Marketing clients
  • Improving business processes & workflows to enable better collaboration & efficiency between account managers, clients, and business units.
  • Spearhead development of new department deliverables based on Affiliate Marketing industry evolution and opportunities 
  • Support the Affiliate business unit leader and upper directorate in reporting to the VP of Earned Media and other upper executives on key client service pillars: same-store growth, retention, new business, and partnerships.
  • Identify critical client/account issues and escalate them to appropriate executives in a timely manner
  • Anticipating the needs of the Affiliate business unit leader, upper directorate and the VP of Earned Media by providing concise, actionable information on account opportunities 
  • Oversee high-profile accounts to stay current on applicable technology, tactics, and account obstacles
  • Test and learn new strategies, features, and platforms and share findings with the Affiliate Marketing department

You Must Have

  • 4-5 years of experience working in Affiliate Marketing comprising media campaign strategy within an agency/client environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year prior staff management with development and mentoring experience.
  • Extensive experience developing, optimizing, analyzing, and reporting on Affiliate Marketing campaigns for a diverse range of clients and verticals (Ecom/retail, international and B2B).
  • Experienced with affiliate networks such as Impact, CJ, PepperJam, Rakuten, ShareASale, AWIN, Partnerize, etc.
  • Experienced with insights data, partner performance, and key trends to inform the development of strategies and plans.
  • Strong working experience running regular and ad hoc reports to hone in on data that demonstrate areas of opportunity to grow and optimize client affiliate partnerships, with an emphasis on forecasting. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or related four-year degree or relevant experience
