Last fall, we told you all about our new scholarship opportunity, which would award a Macbook Pro and cash prizes to three talented, driven winners who submitted essays detailing how they challenged the status quo at their schools. Today is the day we would like to recognize those winners and award them their prizes!
So without further ado, here are the winners of Wpromote’s fall 2017 scholarship:
- 1st Place: Marc Goff, who bought his own food truck to employ at-risk juveniles in his area and mentor them for nine months
- 2nd Place: Nathaly Dennise Pérez, who is challenging racism and changing her community by creating a zine for people of color
- 3rd Place: Chaney Coman, who served as a leader of the 2017 Mr. Whitman fundraiser to raise money for the Blue Mountain Action Council Food Bank (BMACFB)
Marc was awarded a Macbook Pro and $500, Nathaly $750, and Chaney $500 to help them with their college tuition and other college expenses!
Here’s the best part: Wpromote will be running this scholarship twice a year so we can do our part to help students of all kinds. The next submission deadline will be in late spring of 2018, so keep an eye out for the next contest announcement, and get those Challenger ideas ready! Congratulations again to our winners.
