WHOA! A special Wednesday edition of Tues News! We’ve got Labor Day to thank for that.  Anyway, I know you’re freaked out right now, but you’ve got to get a hold of yourself.  Try not to think about the mind-blowing ramifications of having a Tues News on a non-Tuesday because there is some interesting news afoot.  Let’s check it out!

  • Obviously, the biggest story this week is that Google has just launched Chrome, their new Internet Explorer and Firefox-fighting browser.  Will it be awesome?  Will it be abysmal?  We’ll find out in the coming weeks as the kinks get knocked out.
  • “Wait a minute!” you might be thinking, “Wasn’t Google in cahoots with Mozilla?”  Yeah, they were, but clearly, the launch of Chrome changes at least some of that.  Here is some back story on the complicated relationship between Google and Mozilla.
  • Still have questions about Chrome?  Well, you know the folks over at SearchEngineLand.com are weighing in with their opinion.  Check out the 10 features that distinguish Chrome form IE and FiFo and you might make the switch.  Of course, it may just reaffirm your love of the Fox.  If you’re an IE user, I seriously suggest you get cool and jump ship before the cool kids stop inviting you to their parties.

So, not only was this Tues News not on a Tues, but all the news was about Chrome.  Should you feel blessed or screwed?  I’m not positive.  As I always say, though, if Google spends two years building something, it behooves us all to pay attention.  Plus, the big story last week was about Mozilla’s new product, Ubiquity, so I thought it only fair to talk about the new player to the browser game.

Thanks for stopping by. Read up on and keep up with the online world; keep reading Tues News! Catch ya later!

Tues News is a lot like Blue’s Clues, just less dogs. Oh and Blue’s Clues is worth my time.

    Was that too Ruff?

(that’s what the bitch said)…(as in female dog…she/the bitch…ah the hell with it)

  2. Chrome is definitely an interesting app. I look forward to testing it out. One of the aspects I find most interesting is the way the security is set up. It seems like it is designed the way OSX is as far as access is concerned, which is pretty cool.

The German government issued a warning to its citizens not to use Chrome – see article here: http://mashable.com/2008/09/07/germany-google/. They are worried using Chrome will help Google along in their plan to ______.

Not to mention any content you submit via Chrome is owned by Google, but not really! They just forgot to revise their TOS before launching. You can read about that issue here:
