Heal the Bay is an environmental nonprofit organization founded in 1985. Their mission is to make the coastal waters and watersheds of Southern California safe, healthy, and clean. Every summer Wpromote employees join the effort by spending an afternoon cleaning the beaches of El Porto in Manhattan Beach. The beach cleanup is always a huge success for Wprovide, Wpromote’s philanthropic initiative.
In 2007, Wpromote began supporting Kiva, a microfinancing nonprofit that empowers people through $25 loans. To date, Wpromote employees have provided 64 loans to people around the world to help them rise out of poverty.
While women’s breast cancer has gotten mass publicity and support over the years, cancers affecting men have received significantly less attention. Wpromote sought to give prostate cancer the attention it deserves by participating in Movember, a mustache charity event held in November, raising $2,300 for the cause.
Following the tsunami disaster in Japan, Wpromote pledged to match employee donations and raised $2,430. The company donated proceeds to a handpicked charity called Direct Relief International, which spends an astounding 98.8% of its revenue directly on its charity programs.
Olive Crest transforms the lives of over 60,000 abused, neglected, and at-risk children. Wpromote hosted a Back-to-School Drive for the charity, providing backpacks and school supplies for under resourced K-12 students. Then, as Easter drew near, employees were reminded of the egg hunts and basket decorations they participated in as children. Wanting to allow at-risk children to have the same experiences, employees created Easter baskets filled with treats, toys, and educational tools that were donated to Olive Crest.
Employees at Wpromote dedicate themselves to regularly playing sports activities with special needs youth. KEEN (Kids Enjoy Exercise Now) is a nonprofit organization that provides one-to-one recreational opportunities for children and young adults with mental and physical disabilities.
Jumpstart is a national early education organization working towards the day ever child in America enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Wpromote helped gather learning materials for preschool children in under resourced neighborhoods during our “Christmas in July” event.
A local Culver City charity, One Incredible Family is a nonprofit service corporation providing events, goods, and education programs that benefit disadvantaged sectors of our local community. Through them, Wpromote has donated handmade Valentine's Day cards to at-risk youth.
Soroptimist is an international organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls around the world. On the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead, in which people gather to pray for loved ones who have died, the organization held a beer and wine tasting event called "Savor the Flavor." Wpromote sponsored the beer mugs for the event and raised $6,000. All proceeds were donated to a woman’s shelter in Rosarito, Mexico.
For four years, Wpromote employees have taken time out of their Saturdays to help put together care packages for troops around the world as part of Operation Gratitude, an organization that seeks to lift soldier morale by sending them letters and goods. Thus far, the organization has sent 1,000,000+ packages across the globe.
The 2010 earthquake in Haiti killed thousands and left millions of people without social support, much less health care. In response, Wpromote set out to raise money for earthquake victims by matching employee donations. All together, the company donated $2,000 to Partners In Health, an organization that set up a 2.5 year, $125 million plan called "Stand with Haiti" aimed at rebuilding Haitian health care.
After an employee at Wpromote lost a friend to brain cancer, she set out to run a marathon with the goal of raising $3,000 for ThinkCure!, a leading nonprofit that raises money to accelerate collaborative research to cure cancer. In support, Wpromote was the first to sponsor her run, ultimately kick-starting her fundraising efforts and helping her raise over $3,400.
For the Alzheimer’s Association Blondes Vs. Brunettes football fundraiser Wpromote women competed in a flag football game to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. For those who weren’t up to the challenge of playing football, signing up for the “Walk To End Alzheimer’s” was another avenue to successfully volunteer to raise awareness and funding.
Drew Child Development Corporation is dedicated to preparing the children of Watts-Willowbrook, Compton, and South Los Angeles for success, thereby strengthening the community’s future. Wpromote contributed to the Holiday Toy Drive and Thanksgiving Meal Donation Drive.
Hope Worldwide is a monthly excursion to feed the homeless. Volunteer Wpromoters gather brown bag lunches to distribute among homeless people in downtown LA’s skid row. We’ve kept this monthly charity going for over a year.
It is UCLA’s mission maintain a healthy blood supply for patients at the Ronald Reagan UCA Medical Center and Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center and Orthopaedic Hospital. UCLA’s Mobile Blood Drive came out to visit us in El Segundo, and Wpromoters were encouraged to take an hour off to donate! Each volunteer donated a pint of blood to UCLA.
