Have you heard of SearchMe.com? It’s actually pretty cool. SearchMe.com is a visual web search service that specifically focuses on visual search.  Users navigate through search results with a cover flow type of design, similar to the style found in iTunes. SearchMe also lets users browse through content found on Flickr and YouTube and as an added bonus clips can be played directly in the SearchMe site rather than having to click to YouTube.  Here is one of their demo videos of Media Search.

Unfortunately similar to many other companies in today’s economy, SearchMe.com is planning to layoff a portion of their staff.  Hopefully even with these cutbacks, we’ll continue to see innovation as search becomes more interactive with the growing mix of video and images.

So if you haven’t already, consider taking SearchMe.com for a spin!
