thinkLA Schmooze Cruise 2011

Maria Sass | July 20th, 2011

Lexus. VW. Toyota. Honda. LA Auto Show? Not quite. These were some of the many advertising accounts represented at the highly anticipated thinkLA Schmooze Cruise. This year, the Schmooze Cruise sold-out the first day tickets went on sale, a record, and huge accomplishment, for thinkLA (although to the dismay of some). This could be due to this years theme, Capture The Moment: Prom Night, or because, well, LA has a lot of love for advertising. We have the entertainment industry. We have sun and sand. But what many people don’t know is that LA is the home of some of the largest advertising agencies and accounts. Saatchi & Saatchi, Deutsch, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Team One, RPA, and even start-up agencies, such as Spark44, are all located in this beautiful place we are fortunate enough to call home. There were also many interactive and online advertising agencies present, such as Break Media, Radium One, and the #1 ranked search engine marketing firm. Last Thursday 550 ad-men and ladies alike came out to support advertising, thinkLA, and spend time with friends who they most likely once worked with at one point during their advertising career. Guests lined up to board “The Entertainer” yacht in Marina Del Rey, and were greeted by thinkLA hosts with a corsage and boutonnière, as well as some non-traditional prom accessories, such as RayBan Wafer-esq sunglasses in nearly every color imaginable. Glasses of champagne in hand, guests were ready for Prom to begin. As the sun began to set, The Continue reading…

How To Craft The Right Message

Marcy Zuendel | May 10th, 2011

Part 6 of the 6 Strategies For Superior SEM Results prezi covers ways to craft the right message for your audience through consistent messaging. This segment will show you how to use what users are telling you, by how they are searching and arriving to your website, to customize the experience for them and ultimately increase your conversions. Ideally we would tailor our sales pitch to be custom for each visitor to our website.  Placing different user types into segments or buckets can dramatically increase results.  You should make sure your messaging is consistent from search query, to ad text, to landing page they are directed to.  Also, if they ask for a coupon or review, take them to a page that gives them exactly that.  It seems simple but we often find that accounts are not doing this and making this adjustment can dramatically improve results. Supporting Your Social Media Campaigns With Fundamental SEO, The Smarter Way: Part One

KRONiS | February 23rd, 2011

In late 2010 and recent 2011 months, I attended several conferences and created some internal presentations for employees here at Wpromote Inc. These are highlights from what I felt was important to share with the world to learn from. It also may help answer some of our current and future clients questions about what is important. A lot of this is NOT SEO, but common sense. Doing everything will increase your overall presence on the web, so I consider it part of the job to include things like Social Media Profile Management. Smarter Ways to Use: Linkedin: Although many people have accounts, not so many people realize just how powerful LinkedIn can be to your search marketing business. If you complete your full profile you find that you can actually add 3 links that will benefit the sites you link to with the anchor text. Trick: Be sure to choose to edit your website with the ‘other’ selection choice and create custom links with keywords in the anchor text. (otherwise it will just read ‘My Company’ and no one is targeting ‘My Company’!) Other LinkedIn Tips: Personal: Highlight Ways To Showcase Your Work. For Example, as an SEO Expert: 1. I want to show how my approach to SEO is unique 2. List some impacting accomplishments / results for real clients. 3. Somehow show by example (blogs?) my passion for my work. Business: Create Business Profiles for Clients Encourage staff of company to complete full profiles Build a solid company profile Create Continue reading…

The Perfect Last Minute Date

Kevin Burns | February 14th, 2011

Whether you want to celebrate it or not, today is Valentine’s Day, and you might be required to do something nice for your significant other.  I know this day is typically looked at as a cliché, Hallmark holiday, but if you don’t take that stance, and you need to plan a date in five minutes, this blog post is for you. This first online tool has been around for about a decade now, but I think it has really become more mainstream in the last few years.  This website has created an app, and has developed a very user friendly website.  When users log on they can search through almost every restaurant in their area by entering a specific zip code, choosing a type of food or requesting a restaurant by name.  My top choice to help couples in a hurry would be OpenTable.com.  This website offers rewards for frequent users and brief descriptions of restaurants, which provides a one stop website for the cultivated foodie. If you were not able to reserve your girlfriend’s favorite restaurant you might be able to avoid sleeping on the couch if you arrive on the date with flowers in hand.  This last second search for flowers will be possible, and surprisingly cheaper with CouponPal.com.  At this website you can browse through many different flower companies, and find other great Valentine’s Day gifts at amazing prices. If you waited until today to ask someone out on a date chances are you will be dining Continue reading…

Super Bowl XLV: The Ads Are The Real Fun! [Infographic]

Jenny Pauley | February 7th, 2011

The Super Bowl is the single most viewed sporting event in the United States. Every year the top two teams in the NFL collide for the rights to hoist the Vince Lombardi trophy and be anointed Champions. Pretty important stuff.  So, do you remember who won Super Bowl XXIX?  Yeah, neither do I.  But do you remember the Budweiser commercial that launched that year, starring three frogs “Bud” “Weis” and “Er”?  I bet you do! This year, we selflessly opted not to pay much attention to the game, and decided to focus on the true stars of Super Bowl Sunday: the advertisements!  Below is every stat you could possibly wonder about this year’s Super Bowls ads. Should you like what you see, you can copy and paste the embed code provided below, and this nifty little infographic is all yours!  You’re welcome. “Female Tech Influencer” Follow-Up

Maria Sass | January 27th, 2011

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink.” Whether you saw the movie Mean Girls or not, chances are you’ve heard that line before. Why? Because it perfectly encompasses the stereotype of “that” girl. A few months ago an infographic called “Evolution of the Geek” went around the web. This infographic included the original computer geek, everyone’s favorite and largely stereotyped geek, Mr. Steve Urkel, the geek nouveau from Glee, and other geek-chic variants. Although the concept was spot on, we noticed one thing missing: female geeks. That omission prompted us to create our own infographic, but with a twist: “Which Female Tech Influencer Are You?” Our infographic starred some of tech’s leading ladies: Google’s Marissa Mayer, Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg, Cnet journalist Caroline McCarthy, PR consultant Sarah Evans, and Net-A-Porter Founder and CEO Natalie Massenet. The women we chose to feature were already well-known and well-respected in the tech industry. Their names and reputations speak for themselves. The intent was to make a tongue-in-cheek, female-centric infographic– Pink! Yes, lots of pink, and while we’re at it, large, bubbly font! Martini question? Too obvious… but white wine spritzer or tequila worm? People will get the irony. Ultimately we wanted to shine the spotlight on some amazing women who excel at different roles within the tech industry. We hoped that like-minded females would be able to relate to them and aspire to be like them, and that they might even crack a smile along the way. We aimed to produce something that would be interactive Continue reading…
