From my experience and in my humble opinion, number 5 (following non-peers) is the reason that Twitter will stay relevant longer than many may think. People like to internet stalk (creepy I know, but don’t pretend you didn’t Google your last date) and Twitter allows people to follow strangers in a non-intrusive manner. I’m also not convinced that Facebook and Buzz are real competitors with Twitter when it comes to updating non-peers. Many people restrict their Facebook privacy, limiting what strangers can view. I’ve made more valuable connections (personal and professional) over Twitter than I ever have with Facebook. Google also has a lot of flops under their belt (Orkut, Google Answers) so just because they’ve tossed their hat in the ring, it doesn’t mean they’re going to stomp the tiny Twitter bird.
