I’ve Got Gadgets And Gizmos Aplenty

Maria Sass | May 9th, 2011

Your Guide To A Geekishly-Chic Home “The meek shall inherit the earth”, that’s how the saying goes, right? Working in the tech industry, I personally believe that the geek shall inherit the earth. Look at Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg.  Need I proceed? Ok, I will. Last week while traveling, I looked down at my bin in the security line at LAX and saw the following: iPod, iPad, iPhone. Maybe I’m just an iDiot, but, really, technology and all geek-chic variants have consumed us all. So, why stop with gadgets and gizmos aplenty? Here is your guide to creating the ultimate geekishly-chic home. Let’s start with the walls. Some people choose to adorn their hallways with photographs or fine art. Us techies? DNA ancestry paintings… gene-ius! If you’re still not convinced that is the best way to deck-the-halls, try these little creatures (which, we may or may not currently have posted on the windows here in the SEO department at Wpromote): Now, for the details. Thomas Paul pillow? No thx. Text message pillow? Xoxo! Remember those wooden nesting dolls your weird neighbor from Russia had in their home? Well, this is taking weird to a whole new level… Cue in, robot nesting dolls. Lastly, you will be pressed to find a techie that is also not a self-proclaimed coffee addict (I use that term in the kindest of ways, truly). It’s almost as if it is “hip” to self-admittedly be hopped up on caffeine all day. So, for those out Continue reading…

Facebook – Supporting Your Social Media Campaigns With Fundamental SEO: Part Three

KRONiS | February 28th, 2011

Okay so I’ve been told time and time again by ‘non believers’ that SEO is dead and Social Media will take over soon, when in reality it is all converging in a way that SEOs can really take advantage of.  My intentions with this article series is to provide our audience with some best practices for using socia media, specific to Facebook for part 3. It may not seem like SEO, but the ideology is behind all of the posting and commenting, etc. Often when people see how much work is involved, they want to leave running their search and social campaigns to the professionals. That’s us here, so those not interested in getting into the trenches will hopefully come to the professionals at Wpromote for the proper help with their online marketing campaigns to see real results. Facebook: Here are some basic but useful tips about using Facebook to share information / content. Posting Content on Facebook: To ensure that your content is ‘evergreen‘ and continuing to garner inbound traffic/links, rather than posting a status update (which will be gone from anyone’s stream within half an hour if they have over 100 active connections on Facebook) the recommendation is to post the content (image) and then comment on that and ‘like’ it as well. WHY? ‘Liking’ it will put it into your stream for others to see along with your comment. Now, you may want to comment with a link to a website or related piece of content you Continue reading…

The Best Products of CES 2011

Kevin Burns | January 25th, 2011

The Consumer Electronic Show (CES) lived up to its hype this year by delivering around 50 tablets and featuring over 100 companies with 3D products.  About 140,000 people attended this event to see the most technologically advanced products from 2,700 companies, and without a doubt each guest left with a sense of amazement.  There is no way I would be able to cover all the products displayed this year, but I will be discussing the top products from CNet’s Best of CES 2011 Awards, and then revealing the number one product from each category. Let’s start the overview with a rapidly growing industry, Car Tech.  The three items that stood out in this category are the Toyota Entune, OnStar for After Market, and Countour Mobile.  Of these three new products the most coveted item in the eyes of CNet editors is the Toyota Entune.  Toyota Entune brings popular apps to your car on a bright LCD screen, and makes using them advantageous to drivers. The next category in CNet’s Best of CES this year is Design.  The four products that received the most buzz for their blueprint are the Samsung HT-D7, Casio Tryx, Acer Iconia, and Samsung 9 Series.  In the eyes of CNet’s editors the Casio Tryx deserved the award for greatest design because of its ability to twist, turn and be contorted in various ways to assist the photographer in their pursuit of interesting images.  I had to deviate from CNet’s desicion here because I found the Acer Iconia to be much more interesting, and honestly on my Continue reading…

Last Minute Holiday Gifts For The Tech & Fashion-Forward

Maria Sass | December 22nd, 2010

Three days left to shop for Christmas. That’s right: uno, dos, tres. If you’re anything like me, you’re not quite finished. When juggling countless tasks at work before the holidays, meeting deadlines, putting out fires, and then somehow getting convinced to write a blog post (insert wink here), you don’t have much time to run all over town in hopes of finding the “perfect” gift. So what do you do? You turn to your trusty sidekick, the interweb. While browsing, I found some amazingly chic and tech-savvy gifts. I like these items so much so, that once I am finished writing this, I am going to forward the entire list to my family (because they, like me, are not finished with shopping either. Chalking it up to genetics.). If you’re concerned they won’t arrive in time, I have you covered. You can always include a note in the card stating “because this item is so popular, it has been back-ordered for weeks now, and will be arriving just shortly after the holidays. Technology- it works for us, just as much against us!” You’re welcome. 1. This one goes out to my east-coast girlfriends. Knowing very well many of them are glued to their BlackBerry’s at all times of the day, and night, they shouldn’t have to choose staying warm over BBM’ing. The solution? DKNY Cashmere Pop-Top Glove, which have since been dubbed as “texting gloves.” Let’s be real, they don’t call it a crack berry for nothing. 2. The perfect Continue reading…

Sensory Overload: TRON Fashion

Maria Sass | November 22nd, 2010

The worlds of fashion and technology colliding is becoming increasingly familiar, and this past Thursday at Royal/T in Culver City, it was quite evident. The perfect blend of celebrities, fashion influencers, tech journalists, and geeks alike came out to a private event launching Disney’s TRON: Legacy Pop-Up Shop. In preparation of “TRON: Legacy” (which hits theaters December 17), Disney has created a one-of-a-kind shop at this unique Japanese café and art space. Giving much credit to the creative minds at Larry Abel Designs, walking into Royal/T you felt as though you have left Los Angeles completely, and entered the world of Tron. Never before, however, would one associate the gaming world with Jarome C. Rosseau 4” stilettos, and Hayden-Harnett black leather accessories. According to the release, “Our TRON: Legacy line offers a wide range of items for all —whether you’re a die-hard fan or just an avid fan of design, imagination, as well as technology,” said Pam Lifford, executive Vice President of Fashion and Home, Disney Consumer Products. “We’ve had great response from fans on the line overall and the TRON Pop-Up Shop is a special way to bring it all together for them while spotlighting one-of-a-kind pieces they can’t find anywhere else.” Male “Tronnies” are not left behind. TRON: Legacy Adidas sneakers, Burton snowboard boots, and Oakley sunglasses are also some of the exclusive items available at Royal/T. “I’ve always been a huge TRON fan since the original came out,” says Greg Dacyshyn, Chief Creative Officer of Burton Snowboards. Optimize Your Shopping Experience

Kevin Burns | October 11th, 2010

Free time is hard to come by these days, so getting a chance to shop or find a great deal is something that can only happen on my lunch break. Lately though, a few new websites have made shopping online and finding a wide variety of deals more convenient even if you only have a minute.  In this blog I will be connecting you with the easiest way to save money and the most interesting ways to find the hottest new trends, before they even get off the runway. Chances are you are logged into Facebook as you are reading this, and throughout the day Facebook will consume a considerably large amount of your bandwidth.  Companies are more than aware of this, they are taking advantage of the fact that a large majority of their potential clientele is all grouped together in one area.  While you are checking out fan pages for the NBA, UFC, or other various companies you can also purchase clothing and memorabilia through shopping carts integrated into Facebook. YouTube is teaming up with companies to provide unique shopping experiences for customers.  Last week French Connection launched YouTique, which gives users a personal stylist at only the cost of a click.  Once the well-informed British stylist has walked interactive customers through French Connection’s newest releases links are provided for each article of clothing. The Burberry Spring / Summer 2011 fashion show presented customers with an innovative way to shop for their new favorite pieces for the upcoming seasons.  Continue reading…
