Viral Video Friday!

Josh Tauber | September 10th, 2010

Google Instant with Bob Dylan I’m sure this is exactly what Bob Dylan was trying to get at with this song. Though, Google Instant Search is pretty damn cool! Introducing Google Instant For all you search nerds out there. An introduction to the magic of Google’s Instant Search. Honestly though, this guy is a little too excited about seeing his search results instantly. This video kind of remind me of the heavens gate videos. “It’s magical!”… Just sayin’! EpicMix Why wait to get on Facebook to tell everyone you ripped some gnar gnar shreds on some sweet powder brah. EpicMix – so epic – has this really genius new app that gets you social on the Mountain. Big plus for slow-mo skiers. My iPad iBuddy (Steve Young Football My Buddy Spoof) If you don’t know this jingle you weren’t an 80′s kid. Since I was, I know every word. My mom never bought me one though so it brings back some bad memories… Steve Young Football (Crossfire Spoof) iPad, iPhone, iPod This I did have! I could beat anyone at Wpromote too. Bring it Stone! Future of Screen Technology This is really cool to see what it would be like to have technology even more integrated into our lives. Though that guy should have a much sweeter bed. Don’t you think? Viral Video Friday!

Josh Tauber | August 6th, 2010

Inspired by David Fincher’s upcoming movie “The Social Network,” Jimmy Kimmel Live intern Jeff Loveness created this parody trailer documenting the history of YouTube. Students have taken the “Old Spice” commercials to a new level. “Study like a Scholar” received huge hits after only a few hours with their comical explanation of the library’s offerings. Amir over at College Humor seems to be less the concerned with his allergic reaction but quite fixated on the way Facebook makes subtle changes to elude the general public. The Intermediate Tweeter – Intertweetiate?

Josh Tauber | February 20th, 2009

by Josh Tauber Director, Viral Marketing & SMO twitter.com/JoshTauber OK, we get it. Twitter is amazing and it can do amazing things. We have all jumped on the bandwagon and are posting a few times here and there, but now what? Here you will find a few examples of what those symbols and weird words mean, as well as some resources to bring you to the next level – an “intertweetiate”. There is no real true way of tweeting but a bit of a standard is being formed. Hopefully this will help you with some of the top twitterizms. @Username: This allows you to tweet at someone. If you see that someone you follow asks a question about something, you can respond to them directly(or if you spied on someone through a third party app like tweetdeck.. more on this below). To do this, simply hit the respond arrow (on the web) or type @(their user name) and type away. Once you post the tweet the user is notified directly! Retweet: A retweet is just that. If a person finds that someone has an interesting tweet and feel the need to spread the word, they simply retweet. A retweet is noted by either “RT” or “RT:” then the copied tweet is pasted afterwards. See example below: #word: This is called a hash. It allows you to keep track of certain topics or tweets from an event such as a conference. To really maximize your tracking capabilities you should follow @hashtags. Continue reading…

Viral Marketing – What Is It Good For? Absolutely Nothing! – Tell Your Friends

Josh Tauber | November 20th, 2008

by Josh Tauber Director, Viral Marketing Wpromote, Inc. The main purpose of viral marketing is to promote your name online.  When people know who you are, then they can develop a further interest in your product or service. Viral videos will very seldom result in direct conversions.  As a business owner, you are in all likelihood enthusiastic about what you are selling.  Sadly, nobody watching videos online is excited about you or your product.  People watch videos for entertainment.  The viral approach differs inherently from traditional TV and radio advertising, scaring off many companies looking to use viral as a new source of advertising. What’s more, if your service is slightly more abstract or isn’t a straightforward commodity, marketing can be a challenge. Your best bet is to get large amounts of people aware of who you are and – through clever, indirect means – let them know what you are offering. Viral presents an idea to a group of users and requests a response. This response can be laughter, excitement, intrigue, and more. At times it can even be interactive. Whatever the outcome, the goal is a connection. The desired connection is between the end user and your company or product. By entertaining or engaging a user they connect with you. “Hey we think alike” or “that company is outrageous, I like their style.” It’s not important that the concept tie in directly with your service, because viral operates on the idea that advertising turns people off. Here’s a Continue reading…
