Our Team

Wpromote's staff of more than 30 creative, driven individuals come together to form an exciting and dynamic team. From our wonderful account executives to our digital artists, software architects, sales team and account developers, our roles are diverse but our mission is common: to help your business succeed on the web. Meet a few key individuals on the Wpromote team and get to know us a little better.

Michael Mothner - Founder & CEO

From its birthplace in a Dartmouth College dorm room, Michael has led Wpromote since 2001, leading it to become one of the world’s leading search engine marketing firms. In 2007 Michael was featured on the "CEO's Under 30" list by Inc Magazine.

An Economics and Computer Science major at Dartmouth College, Michael serves on the Google Advertiser Research Council, is a member of ThinkLA and is a regularly quoted source in the search engine marketing industry. Between daily operations and strategic planning for Wpromote, Michael loves a vicious game of foosball, though he is still haunted by memories of being on the receiving end of one of the only shut-outs in Wpromote-Foosball history.

Michael Block - Vice President, Client Services

One of the original members of the Wpromote Team, Michael is responsible for the management of Wpromote's paid search clients. In addition to his supervisory role, Michael directly manages a select portfolio of client accounts.

Michael is known around the office for his jingoistic attitude, his artful pontification, and his downright pretentious word selection. Prior to his time at Wpromote, Michael's chief accomplishment was his fifth grade victory in a Marc Summers-hosted game show. Michael graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in Government and Spanish.

Michael Stone - Vice President, Sales

Michael heads up the sales team at Wpromote and manages the company's strategic partnerships. His vast experience in search engine marketing is eclipsed only by his gift of the gab. His workplace antics are infamous around the office, but the processes that have been developed and implemented by Michael have been invaluable to the company's growth and success.

With a BA in Communication from the University of Colorado, Michael is also a board member of ThinkLA's AdZoo, an organization of young advertising industry executives. As a member of Wpromote's local basketball team, Michael was nicknamed the "Comeback Kid" by opponents, due to his never say die attitude.

Kevin Wallace - Senior Software Architect

As Wpromote's Senior Software Architect, Kevin is responsible for the company's suite of proprietary software tools. These programs include innovative keyword and campaign generation packages, advanced bid management software, and cutting edge web analytics and reporting modules. As elder statesman in the software engineering department, Kevin oversees the design and maintenance of database and software systems while remaining active in everyday development. Kevin is proficient in many web technologies, specializing in the open source web platform consisting of Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP.

In addition to these responsibilities, Kevin was the starting point guard for Wpromote's entry in the local basketball league and has established himself as one of the premier office mini-ping-pong and foosball players. Kevin was a software engineer at Raytheon prior to joining the team at Wpromote and holds a BS in computer science from Stanford University.

Alison Quinn - Director, QuickList

After receiving a BS in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Alison began working for Wpromote in its infant stages. As Director of the QuickList program, Alison and her crack team of "QuickListers" manage the every need of nearly 2,000 clients. In addition to running the daily operations, Alison helps shape the strategic direction of QuickList as it continues to be one of the most innovative, effective and affordable website promotion services online.

Out of all Alison's contributions, one of the most significant was the introduction of mini-ping-pong to Wpromote, given as a gift at last year's Annual Non-Denominational-Winter-Themed Gift-Swapping-Occurrence.

Josh Tauber - Director, Account Development

"Internet" -- one of Josh's nicknames around the office -- perfectly describes Josh's all-knowing, problem-solving, "Answer Guy" role at Wpromote. Drawn instantly to the challenges of keyword research as well as the precise craft of ad writing, Josh today heads up the -Campaign Development team, which builds and overhauls client campaigns. As Camp Dev is the first stop for all new Wpromote employees, Josh works extensively in training and curriculum development, and relishes imparting his extensive knowledge on others.

Every morning, Josh leads Camp Dev in a rousing session of strategy talks, new techniques or developments, and campaign progress checks. This is followed by a moment reflecting on anything from the oddities of life to the latest nanoscience advancements. After a quick game of Foosball, it's onto the daily quest to make magic happen in a 95-character Google ad.

Scott Elling - Director, Performance Marketing

Prior to joining Wpromote, Scott was a self-taught, self-employed Internet marketer who recognized the immense potential in search engine marketing. He heads Wpromote's new Performance Marketing division. With his hand-picked team at his side, Scott and the Performance Team have grown the division into a global super affiliate, working with some of the world's most respected and successful companies and generating many millions of dollars in sales every month.

Scott's first week at Wpromote, however, is nearly infamous. In a spontaneous game of office soccer, a rogue kick sent Scott's shoe vaulting across the office and into the CEO's dog. Mere days later, many say "a message was sent" when a rogue nerf ball knocked a full bottle of water onto Scott's computer. Needless to say, today Scott keeps his laces and lids tight.
